Two Prudential Plaza, Skyscraper in Chicago Loop, United States
Two Prudential Plaza is a skyscraper in Chicago's Loop district that stands 303.3 meters tall across 64 floors, topped by a distinctive pyramidal peak rotated 45 degrees. The facade features stacked chevron setbacks on the north and south sides, crowned by an 80-foot spire.
The building opened in 1990 as the world's tallest reinforced concrete structure at that time. Its completion represented an important milestone in construction engineering.
The Canadian Consulate General operates from this location, and you can see both American and Canadian flags displayed in the plaza area along Lake Street. The presence reflects Chicago's role as an international hub.
The building is primarily offices and specialized facilities like radio stations, so public access is limited inside. You can best view the exterior architecture and the plaza area from the street and surrounding public spaces.
The rotated 45-degree pyramidal peak gives this skyscraper a distinctly different look from its neighbors along the skyline. This tilted design makes the building immediately recognizable from various angles throughout the city.
