Harris Theater, Theater in Millennium Park, Chicago, United States
The Harris Theater contains 1,499 seats across three levels, with 600 seats on the main floor, 500 in the raised orchestra, and 400 in the balcony.
Joan and Irving Harris donated 39 million dollars to construct this performing arts venue, which opened its doors on November 8, 2003.
The theater functions as a permanent home for multiple dance and music organizations, including Joffrey Ballet and Chicago Opera Theater.
The underground design of the theater creates multiple entry points from different street levels, with dedicated elevators connecting all floors.
The venue maintains subsidized rental rates for local arts groups while hosting international performers like the New York City Ballet.
