The Buckingham, Residential building in Chicago, United States.
The Buckingham is a residential tower located on East Randolph Street in Chicago, rising 44 stories with approximately 300 units housed within its roughly 122-meter (400 ft) height. The building features a glass facade that reflects the city's skyline and shapes the character of Chicago's New Eastside neighborhood.
The building was completed in 1982, marking the start of modern residential development in Chicago's New Eastside area. Its opening preceded the later revitalization of the surrounding Lakeshore East neighborhood by several years.
The Buckingham represents a modern interpretation of urban residential architecture with its design by Fujikawa Johnson & Associates integrating into Chicago's skyline.
Visitors can access the rooftop deck on the 44th floor for views across the city, while the building offers ample parking through a four-level underground garage served by dedicated elevators. The interior amenities including a pool, fitness center, and sauna are available to residents and their guests.
The building operates with three high-speed elevators serving the residential floors, allowing residents and visitors to reach their destinations quickly throughout the tower. This elevator system was a notable feature when the structure was completed in the early 1980s.
