The Parkshore, Skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois
The Parkshore is a 56-story tower of glass and concrete overlooking Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago. The structure combines residential units and commercial spaces in a contemporary design.
The structure was completed in 1991 under the direction of architects Barancik Conte and developer Amurcon. It marks a turning point in the city's development of modern high-rise residential design.
The building represents Chicago's shift toward modern vertical living and shows how the city created new ways of urban life downtown in the 1990s. People experience this as a symbol of contemporary city living.
The building sits directly on the lakefront in the downtown core and is easy to reach by public transit. Visitors can explore the area on foot and enjoy waterside access.
The rooftop contains a heated outdoor swimming pool situated at a remarkable height. This pool is among the few of its kind at such an elevation across the city's rooftops.
