Bowden Golf Course

Bowden Golf Course is an 18-hole course with Bermuda grass greens and four tee options ranging across different skill levels. The facility spans about 230 acres and includes a complete practice area and pro shop.

The course was built in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration, a Depression-era work program, on the grounds of the former Miller Field airfield. This construction marked a significant change in how the land was used.

The course represents a turning point in the city's social history when it opened to all visitors in 1961, breaking down barriers that had existed before. This shift shaped how the community used public spaces from that moment forward.

The course is open daily and offers cart and club rentals plus practice areas to warm up before playing. A pro shop and snack bar are available on-site for your needs.

Original cobblestone benches from 1940 remain scattered across the course, connecting today's players with the initial construction era. These details add a tangible link to the past as people play.
