Bowden Golf Course, Public golf course in Macon, Georgia, US
The 229-acre course features 18 holes with Bermuda grass greens, four sets of tees ranging from 4940 to 6626 yards, and a complete practice facility.
The Works Progress Administration constructed Bowden Golf Course in September 1940 on the former Miller Field airfield with funding through New Deal initiatives.
The golf course marked a social advancement in 1961 by becoming the first public facility in Macon to remove racial segregation barriers.
The golf course operates daily with green fees between $7 and $16, offering cart rentals, club rentals, a pro shop, and a snack bar.
The original cobblestone benches from 1940 remain intact throughout the course, connecting current players with the initial construction period.
