Holographic Studios, Holography gallery in Manhattan, New York, US
Holographic Studios is a gallery in Manhattan housed in a brownstone building that displays a collection of motion image integral holograms. Laser laboratories in the basement level serve as spaces where holographic techniques are explored and developed.
The building stands on property that once belonged to Revolutionary general Horatio Gates and was later used as a blacksmith forge. Over time it was transformed into a space serving modern holographic artists and researchers.
The studio created holographic portraits of prominent figures including Andy Warhol, Bill Clinton, and Isaac Asimov. These works demonstrate how the technology was applied to artistic representation of people.
The space is open Monday through Friday between 2 PM and 6 PM and offers guided tours, workshops, and educational programs about holographic technology. Visitors should plan ahead to participate in structured programs during their visit.
John Gaeta, who won an Academy Award for The Matrix visual effects, and Vince Gilligan of Breaking Bad both started their careers as interns at this location. These early connections reveal how the studio trained talent that would shape film and television.
