Peninsula Museum of Art

The Peninsula Museum of Art occupies space in The Shops at Tanforan in San Bruno and spans about 18,000 square feet of gallery and working space. Five gallery areas, a library, classroom, shop, and thirty active artist studios fill the facility.

The museum was founded in 2003 at Twin Pines Park Manor House in Belmont and gained nonprofit status in 2004. It moved to Burlingame in 2013 before relocating to its current San Bruno location in 2021.

The museum displays works by Bay Area artists, including pieces by ecofeminist artist Jo Hanson and sculptor Ruth Waters. These exhibitions reflect the contemporary artistic voice of the region.

A significant donation from Charles Homer in 2005 enabled the museum to expand its physical spaces and develop its programs. This financial support allowed the institution to grow beyond its original capacity in surprising ways.
