Bartholdi Park, Botanical garden in Capitol Complex, Washington, D.C., United States

The two-acre Bartholdi Park exhibits sustainable landscaping practices with rain gardens and native Mid-Atlantic plants across its grounds near Independence Avenue.

Created in 1932 as part of the United States Botanic Garden, the park displays the Bartholdi Fountain, which was purchased by the government in 1877.

The park bears the name of French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who designed both the central fountain and the Statue of Liberty.

Visitors can observe ten different rain gardens that capture rainfall and demonstrate water management techniques throughout the landscaped grounds.

The garden received SITES Gold certification in 2016 for its environmental innovations, becoming the first Washington D.C. project under SITES version 2.
