Seth Low Pierrepont State Park Reserve is a protected natural area in Ridgefield with a network of hiking trails that wind through forests and open spaces of varying elevation. The paths connect different landscape types and allow visitors to explore the local plants and wildlife throughout the grounds.

Seth Low Pierrepont, a former diplomat, bought the land from the Scott family in the 1930s and had a dam built at an impassable swamp to create Lake Naraneka. He bequeathed part of his estate, including the lake's south and eastern shores, to the state upon his death in 1956. The opposite shore was sold to developers by his widow.

Lake Naraneka takes its name from Seth Low Pierrepont, the diplomat and millionaire who bought the Scott family farmland in the 1930s and had a dam built across an impassable swamp to create the 38-acre pond. The lake is also called Pierrepont Pond, and the park itself carries his name.

The trails are accessible year-round and offer opportunities for hiking and nature observation across different seasons. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and prepare for varying ground conditions along the paths.

Seth Low Pierrepont had a dam built at what was described as an "impassable swamp" to create Lake Naraneka, the 38-acre pond at the park's centre. After his death in 1956 his widow sold the opposite shore to developers, so the protected shoreline covers only part of the lake.
