Anchor Graphics, Design studio in South Loop, Chicago, United States
Anchor Graphics is a fine art printshop and gallery located within Columbia College Chicago that offers multiple printing techniques and exhibition areas. The facility includes different printing presses and regularly displays work from both established and emerging artists.
The studio was founded in 1990 and relocated several times, initially moving from the Ukrainian Village neighborhood to River North. It found its permanent home at Columbia College Chicago in 2006.
Accomplished artists like Kerry James Marshall and Ed Paschke have created prints here by working alongside master printers at the studio. The workshop functions as a meeting place where established painters and printmakers come together to develop new work.
The studio offers regular hours for open studio time, adult classes, and multiple artist residencies available throughout the year. Visitors should plan ahead to participate in available programs or view the exhibitions on display.
A program called Press on Wheels takes printmaking instruction directly to schools and museums throughout the Chicago area. This brings professional printing techniques to people beyond the studio's walls.
