Trout Lake, lake in Pennsylvania, United States of America

Trout Lake is a reservoir covering about 90 acres in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, fed by Appenzell Creek. The body of water sits in forested surroundings roughly a mile and a half south of Reeders and is easily accessible from Pennsylvania Route 715.

The lake was created as an artificial body of water and served as an ice harvesting site from the late 1800s onward, with ice shipped to cities like New York and Philadelphia. When modern refrigeration made this business obsolete, the site transformed into an international sports training camp starting in 1991.

The lake takes its name from the trout that inhabit its waters. Today it serves as a gathering place for outdoor training camps, where people come together to experience activities in nature.

The lake is surrounded by forest and offers easy trails and picnic areas for exploring. Keep in mind that the site operates as a training facility, so access may vary depending on scheduled programs or events.

The lake was once known for ice harvesting, a trade that supplied frozen blocks to distant cities before mechanical refrigeration existed. This unusual historical role shows how the water shaped technology and commerce in the region.
