Pocono Manor Historic District, Historic district in Monroe County, United States.
Pocono Manor Historic District is a resort complex containing about seventy-five buildings and multiple structures spread across a large property south of Mount Pocono. The central inn anchors the property and was constructed in phases over several decades in the early to mid-twentieth century.
The resort community was founded around 1902 as a retreat intended for Quaker families. The main building grew in stages under architect Walter Smedley's direction and expanded alongside the broader complex over time.
The district displays early twentieth-century architectural styles including Stick, Shingle, and Bungalow designs that shape how the place looks today. Walking through, visitors see how these different building types reflect the tastes and construction methods of that era.
The district is accessible via Pennsylvania Route 314 and several local roads including Lake Road, Cliff Road, and Summit Avenue. It is located south of Mount Pocono and can be reached by car from major regional roads.
A major fire in November 2019 caused serious damage to the central inn and left visible marks on this historic complex. The ongoing recovery effort is now part of the site's story and landscape.
