Mount Minsi, Mountain summit in Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania, United States.
Mount Minsi is a mountain summit rising to about 1,460 feet (445 meters) near Delaware Water Gap, recognizable by steep cliffs on its eastern exposure. From the higher points, views stretch across the river and down through the valley below.
The mountain formed during the Silurian period from mineral-rich rock that resisted millions of years of erosion. Modern trails were established in the 1900s as the region developed into a popular hiking and climbing destination.
The mountain held deep meaning for the Lenni Lenape people who lived on these lands long before Europeans arrived in the region. The rocky ridges and natural passages connected them to the river valley and the wider landscape they inhabited.
The main access is through Lenape Lot parking area, from where a loop trail connects several viewpoint stops. The paths are clearly marked, but portions of the climb are steep, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
The eastern rock faces offer climbing routes for different skill levels that transform into ice climbing terrain when winter arrives. This seasonal shift makes the site attractive to climbers across different times of the year.
