Playground Seventy Five, Public playground in Hillcrest, Queens, United States
Playground Seventy Five is a public play space located beside Public School 154 in Hillcrest, Queens. The grounds contain multiple play areas equipped with modern structures and protective surfacing designed to reduce injury risk.
The land was purchased by New York City in 1929 to make room for Public School 154 construction. The playground facility was developed on the site roughly 25 years later, in 1954.
The playground serves a neighborhood that grew from the historic Flushing Suburban area, which developed strong community engagement through civil rights activities.
Adults can keep watch over children from seating areas positioned throughout the grounds. The playground is easy to access and provides a safe setting for children of various ages.
The playground takes its name from 75th Avenue, which bore a different name during Queens' agricultural era when the area looked and functioned quite differently. This local history reflects how streets and the landscape transformed over time in this neighborhood.
