The Church-in-the-Gardens, Tudor Revival church in Forest Hills, United States.
The Church-in-the-Gardens is a Tudor Revival church building located in Forest Hills, Queens. The stone structure features a prominent entrance tower, a bell tower, and numerous stained glass windows arranged throughout the building.
Architect Grosvenor Atterbury designed the complex in 1915 as part of the Forest Hills planned community. Additional buildings were added over time, including the Community House in 1926 and the Parish Hall in 1953.
The church was built as a welcoming space for people of different faiths and backgrounds. The gardens and outdoor spaces around the building serve as gathering places where the community still comes together today.
The building sits on a spacious one-acre property with multiple connected structures and connected outdoor spaces. Walking paths and gardens throughout the grounds make it easy to explore the entire complex on foot.
The property earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 for its architectural design and community role. This recognition highlights how the complex was thoughtfully integrated into its planned neighborhood from the beginning.
