La Pocita de las Golondrinas Beach, Natural saltwater beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico.

La Pocita de las Golondrinas is a natural saltwater beach in Isabela with a sheltered swimming area that stays about 2 feet (60 cm) deep and is surrounded by large rock formations. These rocks naturally enclose the water and protect it from the open ocean waves beyond.

The beach has maintained its natural character through the years and proved resilient even after Hurricane Maria in 2017 altered access routes to the area. The landscape adapted after that storm and the location continued to function as a beach for visitors and locals.

Local vendors operate simple food stands along the shore, selling traditional Puerto Rican snacks that reflect everyday island eating habits. These casual kiosks create a relaxed social space where visitors and residents gather to eat and chat.

Reach the beach by walking a narrow path through vegetation for about 5 to 10 minutes, then turn right at a Y-shaped junction to enter. The walk is straightforward once you know the right direction at the fork.

The natural rock walls create an enclosed swimming zone where children can play safely while powerful waves crash against the surrounding barriers outside. This contrast between calm inner water and turbulent ocean swells creates a memorable experience.
