Saint Andrew Orthodox Christian Church, Orthodox Christian church in Riverside, California
Saint Andrew is an Orthodox Christian church in Riverside that features seven domes and over seventy arches reflecting the architectural style of Saint Catherine Church in Thessaloniki, Greece. The building combines Eastern religious design with contemporary construction while maintaining traditional proportions and structural elements.
The community began in 1989 with families from Riverside and Corona, receiving official recognition as Saint Andrew Mission Station in 1992. The project emerged from the need of a growing Orthodox Christian population to establish a dedicated place of worship.
Inside the church, icons and religious artworks follow Eastern Christian traditions and fill the space with spiritual presence. These pieces were created specifically for this place and reflect the Orthodox faith as visitors experience it through visual elements.
The church is located on Canyon Crest Drive and typically accommodates about 200 seated attendees, though Sunday services regularly draw up to 400 visitors who need to stand. Visitors should expect full conditions during worship times and plan for longer services that follow traditional Orthodox practices.
The construction of this building incorporated materials gathered from seven different countries, creating an international dimension to the structure. This sourcing of materials from across the world reflects the multicultural nature of the community that worships here.
