In Situ, restaurant in San Francisco
In Situ is a restaurant inside the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art that serves dishes from renowned chefs around the world. The menu changes regularly and features about 18 dishes from famous chefs in different countries, presented in a modern space designed like an art gallery.
The restaurant was founded to create a unique dining form where chef Corey Lee collects recipes from over 100 world-renowned chefs and respectfully reinterprets them. This approach brings together the culinary history of different countries under one roof.
In Situ reflects the connection between food and art that is typical of San Francisco. The dishes are presented like artworks and invite guests to see cooking as a creative craft that brings together cultures and techniques.
Access is through the museum, and parking is limited, though garage spaces are available nearby. The restaurant opens from Thursday to Tuesday for lunch and Thursday to Sunday for dinner, so planning ahead for a visit is recommended.
The menu includes dishes from different time periods, including historic recipes from legendary restaurants that no longer exist. This approach allows guests to taste a piece of the past and understand how cooking has evolved over time.
