Coulter Flats

Coulter Flats is a three-story brick structure with terra cotta ornamentation, distinguished by six bays on each side and Flemish gables at the roofline. The building is supported internally by hollow tile and concrete framing.

The building was constructed in 1907 and blends Tudor Revival and Jacobean Revival architectural elements. It received designation on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The building reflects early 20th-century residential preferences in Indianapolis through its decorative brick and terra cotta details. These design choices show what affluent residents valued in their homes during that era.

The building sits on North Meridian Street and is easy to locate when walking through the neighborhood. While it functions as a residential building, visitors can view the exterior architecture and decorative details clearly from the street.
