The Wheeler-Stokely Mansion features buff brick walls, ceramic tile bands, and a green terra cotta roof spread across 8.5 acres of landscaped grounds.
Frank Wheeler, co-founder of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, commissioned this residence in 1911, which later became property of William Stokely in 1937.
The mansion incorporates Arts and Crafts architectural elements designed by William Price, with a 320-foot colonnade extending from its rear section.
Visitors need to obtain permission before exploring the mansion grounds, which now belong to Marian University since its acquisition in 1963.
The property includes a square gazebo with Mercer tile that once served as a departure point for gondola rides on an artificial lagoon.
