Blue Chapel

The Blue Chapel is located on the third floor of Keating Hall within Fordham University's Rose Hill campus and displays classic Gothic features with high ceilings and detailed stone work. The interior is illuminated by a striking stained glass window that becomes visible from outside in the evening hours.

The chapel was built in 1937 as a memorial to Dolores Colkin and reflects the Gothic architecture characteristic of buildings from that era. A comprehensive renovation in 2007 restored many original design elements and returned the space to its historical appearance.

The chapel maintains a regular schedule of Catholic services and serves as a spiritual center for students and faculty members of Fordham University throughout the academic year.

Visitors can reach the chapel through Keating Hall during normal university operating hours and should remember this is an active academic space. The stained glass window offers the best viewing in the evening, and access depends on current campus policies.

The altar is crafted from hand-hammered Swedish steel and draped with blue damask fabric, creating a distinctive focal point in the space. This combination of modern metalwork with traditional textile is uncommon in Gothic chapels from this period.
