Subang Jaya, Metropolitan city in Selangor, Malaysia
Subang Jaya is a city in Petaling District, Selangor, roughly 12 miles (20 kilometers) west of central Kuala Lumpur. The urban area includes residential zones, commercial districts, and transport links that connect neighborhoods across the wider metropolitan region.
The area was originally a rubber plantation called Seafield Estate until planned residential development started in the mid-1970s. Construction continued over the following decades, transforming the land into a modern suburb with its own administrative structure.
The population of 968,930 residents includes Chinese, Malay, and Indian communities, each maintaining their traditions through temples, mosques, and cultural centers.
Two separate light rail lines and a commuter rail system link the city with central Kuala Lumpur and other parts of the region. Buses run regularly between different districts, providing access to shopping areas, residential zones, and transport hubs.
The SS15 district serves as a main hub for dining and nightlife, with street cafes and restaurants busy during evening hours. Many residents gather there after work for meals or to browse nearby shops.
