Manjung, Administrative district in southwestern Perak, Malaysia
Manjung is an administrative district in southwestern Perak containing several urban centers. The area includes towns like Seri Manjung, Lumut, Sitiawan, and Ayer Tawar, each with its own character and purpose.
The area was formerly known as Dindings and came under British control through the 1874 Pangkor Treaty. It remained part of the Straits Settlements until Malaysia gained independence in the mid-20th century.
The district is home to several communities living and working side by side. Visitors notice this diversity throughout markets, temples, and mosques that shape daily life here.
The district is best explored starting from Seri Manjung, where the main administrative center is located. The different towns are well connected, making it easy to visit multiple areas in a single day.
The naval shipyard in Lumut is a major military base that is not typically open to the public. Marina Island, an artificial gateway, offers visitors an alternative route to the nearby island of Pangkor.
