Gaharu Tea Valley, Tea plantation and agricultural tourism center in Gopeng, Malaysia
Gaharu Tea Valley is a 300-acre plantation with over 200,000 Agarwood trees distributed across different sections. The grounds feature a hilltop cafe, themed gardens, and walking paths for visitors.
David Ho founded the plantation in 1992 with 200 seedlings to protect and study Agarwood trees threatened by logging. His goal was to preserve the species as wild populations declined.
The wood is valued across Asia and the Middle East for perfumes, healing practices, and religious ceremonies, making this place important to many cultures.
Visitors can explore the grounds by van to see different sections of the plantation. Walking between areas on your own lets you move through the gardens at your own pace.
The Tree Hugging Park features painted tree trunks you can touch, while Lovers Park showcases ancient intertwined trees about 200 years old. This natural intertwining happened without human design.
