Sultan Azlan Shah Gallery is a historic building in Kuala Kangsar that displays personal belongings of the sultan, including gem-studded watches, sunglasses, and mementos from his school years. The exhibition presents items from the royal family's daily life and provides insight into how the Malaysian ruling family lived.
The building was constructed in 1903 as a residence for Perak Sultan Idris Shah I and served the royal family for over a century. It was transformed into a public gallery in 2003 to make the legacy of Sultan Azlan Shah and his history accessible to the public.
The gallery displays royal treasures from Perak, including ornate ceremonial swords and intricately decorated kris daggers that reflect local craftsmanship. Visitors can also see a finely crafted royal baby cradle that shows the artistry of the region.
The building is located on Jalan Istana and is easy to reach by foot or vehicle. Guided tours are available to help visitors understand the exhibits and the stories behind the royal family's possessions.
A separate section houses a collection of luxury vehicles, including several Rolls-Royce cars that belonged to the sultan. This automobile collection reveals the royal family's passion for fine engineering and design.
