Capital Centre, Architectural complex in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Capital Centre is an architectural complex in Abu Dhabi featuring a distinctive leaning tower that rises 160 meters high and tilts 18 degrees to the west. The structure contains 35 floors with hotel rooms, office space, retail shops, and a tea house integrated throughout different levels.
The project began in 2007 and was completed by 2011, reflecting Abu Dhabi's rapid growth as a business center. The distinctive tilted design was an innovative approach to mixed-use development during that period.
The tilted tower stands as a landmark along the waterfront and draws attention from visitors exploring the nearby streets. People gather in the ground-floor retail spaces and tea house, making it a social meeting point in this part of the city.
The site is easy to explore on foot since all functions center around the main tower and its surroundings. Public areas including shops and the tea house are accessible during regular business hours and invite casual browsing.
The tower's diagrid structure eliminates the need for interior support columns, keeping the inner space open and flexible. This advanced engineering approach was relatively new to the region when the building was completed.
