Tomb of Timur Shah Durrani

The mausoleum features traditional Afghan architectural elements with domed structures, ornamental tilework, and detailed inscriptions throughout the interior and exterior walls.

The structure, completed in 1815, houses the remains of Timur Shah Durrani, who ruled the Durrani Empire from 1772 to 1793 and moved the capital to Kabul.

The mausoleum represents the architectural and artistic traditions of Afghan funerary monuments from the early nineteenth century, showcasing regional construction methods.

The restored monument stands in central Kabul and welcomes visitors who want to explore the historical heritage of Afghanistan's Durrani period.

The Aga Khan Development Network conducted extensive restoration work between 2002 and 2008, returning the structure to its original architectural grandeur.
