Fir of Drenovë National Park

Fir of Drenovë National Park sits in the Morava Mountains and features dense forests of fir trees mixed with rocky outcrops and natural stone formations. Several mountain lakes and karst caves dot the landscape, creating varied terrain throughout the protected area.

The park was established in 1966 as a protected area to safeguard the forests and natural biodiversity of this mountain region. This designation reflected efforts to preserve important wilderness areas within Albania.

Local people have long gathered mushrooms in the forest as part of their seasonal routine and connection to the land. This practice remains part of how communities interact with the natural environment while caring for its preservation.

Visitors should have access to a private vehicle since public transportation to the park is limited and the drive from major towns takes several hours. The walking trails and lake access vary with the season, with warmer months offering better conditions.

The park contains distinctive rock formations such as the Stone of Capi and Zhombrit's Pyramid, which visitors encounter as natural monuments scattered across the terrain. These geological features stand out as unusual shapes within the surrounding forests and lakes.
