Driloni river, Natural monument and spring in Korçë County, Albania
The Driloni river is a spring-fed waterway in Korçë County, southeastern Albania, that emerges from underground karst springs along the shore of Lake Ohrid. The river runs a short course through flat, wooded land before emptying into the lake.
The area around the Driloni was developed into a known leisure destination during the 20th century, when Albanian authorities protected the natural springs and designated the surroundings as a protected area. The site attracted political figures of that era who used it as a retreat.
The Driloni is a popular spot for families from the Korçë region who come to picnic and fish along its banks. Small restaurants near the spring serve grilled fish caught directly from the river, making it a natural gathering place for locals on weekends.
The Driloni spring area sits within the Driloni recreational zone on the shore of Lake Ohrid, easily reached from the town of Pogradec. Boat rides on the river are available during warmer months, which makes a visit more enjoyable.
The Driloni is one of the shortest rivers in Albania, running only a few hundred meters before reaching Lake Ohrid. Its springs sit so close to the surface that the water appears fully transparent from the moment it emerges from the ground.
