Clock Tower of Korçë, Ottoman clock tower in Korçë, Albania
The Clock Tower of Korçë is an octagonal stone structure standing 17 meters tall and displaying classic features of Ottoman-era architecture. The building sits in the old bazaar and functions today as a public timekeeper for the surrounding area.
The tower was built in 1784 through cooperation between Muslim Albanians and Orthodox Moscopolitans. It originally formed part of the Mosque Complex of Iliaz Hodja.
The tower marks the heart of Korçë and serves as an anchor point for locals and visitors alike. People gather near its base, especially during local celebrations and daily social moments.
The tower sits in the old bazaar on Rruga Asim Vokshi and is easily accessible on foot. The area works well for walking around, and you have enough space to view the structure from different angles.
The tower suffered damage during communist rule and was badly hit by an earthquake in 1960. A full restoration in 2016 returned it to its original form.
