The museum occupies the lower two floors of the building on Republic Square; the National Gallery of Armenia fills the upper floors. Among the finds are wooden carts and chariots from the 15th–14th centuries BC, excavated at Lchashen, and a 782 BC cuneiform inscription by King Argishti I recording the founding of Erebuni, the site that became Yerevan.
