History Museum of Armenia

The History Museum of Armenia is a national institution in central Yerevan housing several specialized collections across different rooms. The galleries contain archaeological finds, coins, and artifacts spanning various periods of Armenian history.

The museum originated from a founding in 1919 and opened as Armenia's first national museum a few years later. This establishment marked the beginning of institutional collecting and preserving Armenian historical objects.

The museum displays how Armenian civilizations connected with ancient societies across the Mediterranean and beyond. Visitors can see these historical ties reflected in the objects and artworks on display today.

The collection consists largely of ancient coins and also holds rare items such as inscribed clay tablets and bronze figurines. These valuable pieces come from the time of the ancient Urartu civilization and offer insight into a culture that vanished long ago.
