Gutanasar

The Gutanasar summit rises to 2,301 meters above sea level, presenting a three-peaked formation with gentle slopes rising 300 meters from the base.

The volcano experienced its final eruption approximately 200,000 years ago, as determined through scientific dating of the surrounding lava flows.

The mountain contains substantial deposits of obsidian, which archaeological findings indicate served as a material source for tools throughout Armenian history.

Visitors can reach Gutanasar by driving 40 kilometers from Yerevan to Fantan village, followed by a hiking trail to the mountain base.

A deep fissure at the summit contains thick volcanic lava formations, creating a geological landscape that resembles desert terrain.
