Arno Babajanyan

The Arno Babajanyan memorial depicts the composer seated at a grand piano crafted from Ukrainian basalt, located at the intersection of Tumanyan and Teryan Streets. The bronze sculpture sits in downtown Yerevan near the State Philharmonia and serves as a recognizable landmark in the city center.

The monument was created by sculptor David Bejanyan and unveiled in July 2003. Following public response to its original proportions, the sculpture was modified to refine its details.

The memorial stands near the concert hall bearing his name, where performances continue to celebrate his work today. His music blends Armenian folk traditions with classical composition, shaping the cultural identity of the city.

The memorial sits at a busy street corner downtown and is easily accessible on foot from nearby attractions. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer the best lighting for viewing and photography without heavy crowds.

The figure was revised after criticism of its original proportions, particularly the exaggerated finger lengths in the pianist pose. This modification shows how public response shaped the final artistic work.
