Artist Union of Armenia, Art association and museum in Yerevan, Armenia

The Artist Union of Armenia is a public-creative organization uniting about 1,200 painters, sculptors and art historians. Its Yerevan building holds gallery rooms for individual and group exhibitions, alongside administrative offices and spaces for lectures and meetings with cultural figures. The union also publishes the journal Fine Arts, founded in 2003.

Founded on November 10, 1932, the union held its first congress in 1945 and had convened 18 congresses by 2013. Its presidents have included Martiros Saryan (1945–1951) and Ara Shiraz (1987–1993). In 2018 Suren Safaryan was elected president at the 19th congress.

The gallery spaces feature regular exhibitions with works by Armenian painters, sculptors, and visual artists from across the country. You can observe how local artists present their practices and explore what concerns them.

The building sits in a central location that is easy to find and reach from most areas of Yerevan. The gallery spaces are arranged across the floors, allowing you to move through exhibitions at your own pace.

The building houses active artist studios alongside public exhibition galleries, meaning you may sometimes see creators working while you visit. This combination of working studio and public gallery under one roof is uncommon in Yerevan.
