Spandaryan Reservoir, Water reservoir in Armenia
Spandaryan Reservoir is a large body of water in Syunik Province in southeastern Armenia, created by damming the Vorotan River. The blue waters are framed by high Zangezur mountains and feed a hydroelectric plant that has supplied power to the region for decades.
The reservoir was built around 1980 as part of a major project to generate electricity and provide water to surrounding communities. This infrastructure became one of the country's largest sources of power and remains central to regional energy supply today.
