Pic Toopua

Pic Toopua is a small volcanic summit on the western edge of Bora-Bora, rising about 27 meters above sea level. The outcrop forms a distinctive rocky point along the island's coastline.

The summit has long served as a navigation landmark for Polynesian seafarers exploring and traveling across these waters. This geographic role proved essential for maritime routes and island connections.

The small peak stands as a reference point in daily island life, where locals pass by regularly during their fishing and diving activities along the reef.

The summit is reached by a short climb from nearby beaches, with morning hours offering the most favorable conditions for the ascent. The rocky outcrop becomes more accessible at low tide and provides good views of the surrounding reef.

From the peak, you can see intricate patterns in the coral reef during low tide, created by the volcanic formation below. This underwater landscape becomes visible when water levels drop, offering a rare glimpse of the reef ecosystem.
