Historia de la medicina y la farmacia en Chile is a mural in Concepción spanning three large panels inside the former Maluje Pharmacy building, depicting medicine and pharmacy evolution through detailed illustrations. The artwork shows traditional indigenous healing on the left, the arrival of European medical knowledge in the center, and modern medicine on the right with portraits of physician Alejandro Lipschutz.

The mural was created by artist Julio Escámez in 1958 and declared a National Monument of Chile in 2015 through Decree 370. This recognition honors the artistic and cultural importance of the work in documenting medical developments in the country.

The left section shows traditional Mapuche healing practices with a woman gathering medicinal herbs, illustrating the deep connection between nature and health in indigenous culture. This depiction reveals how healing knowledge was rooted in local practices before outside influences arrived.

The mural is located at 676 Tucapel Street in Concepción and remains visible through large windows designed for public viewing. The building's design allows viewing from outside without requiring entry.

The work impressively tells Chile's medical journey in a single space by placing traditional and modern healing methods side by side. This visual narrative conveys an immediate sense of how medical practices and knowledge transformed in the country.
