Torre O'Higgins, Office building in Concepción, Chile.
Torre O'Higgins is an office building in central Concepción located on Avenida Bernardo O'Higgins between Angol and Salas streets. The structure houses multiple office spaces and includes a restaurant in its upper floors, rising to approximately 53 meters in height.
The building underwent major reconstruction after the 2010 earthquake, reducing its height from 21 to 14 floors. It reopened in August 2014 following completion of structural improvements.
The tower takes its name from Bernardo O'Higgins, a key figure in Chilean independence, connecting modern buildings to the country's identity. The avenue itself was also named after this national leader, shaping how people move through and remember the city center.
The building is easily accessible by public transportation and sits in an active area of the city center. Visitors can access various services there and may use the restaurant if passing through the neighborhood.
During reconstruction, engineers added specialized seismic protections to make the building more resistant to earthquakes. These invisible improvements reflect how modern Chilean architecture now accounts for the country's earthquake risk.
