Plaza René Schneider

The plaza features four monuments, including a statue of Bernardo O'Higgins, a bust of José de San Martín, and a memorial plaque for General René Schneider.

The plaza was constructed in 1941 following the 1939 Chillán Earthquake, as part of a reconstruction project connecting the city center with the University District.

The Municipality of Concepción designated both the plaza and its judicial palace as Architectural Heritage sites, recognizing their importance to the urban landscape.

The plaza includes a two-level underground parking facility with space for 415 vehicles, constructed through a private concession project worth over nine million dollars.

The square houses the Palace of Justice of Concepción and contains carefully maintained gardens and promenades surrounding the main judicial building.
