Casa Esquerré, Art Deco building in Concepción, Chile.
Casa Esquerré is a three-story building with Art Deco features on Barros Arana Street in Concepción. The facade displays geometric shapes and decorative friezes that define the structure.
The building was designed in 1928 by architect Ernesto Loosli and initially served as a textile factory. Later it was used as a commercial space and tourism agency for various businesses.
The building reflects how a prosperous neighborhood developed, showing how businesses and residences existed side by side in the early twentieth century. Its facade with geometric elements tells of a time when the city grew and modernized.
The building stands at the corner of Barros Arana and Salas streets in central Concepción and is easy to reach on foot. The modern surroundings with shops and restaurants make it a natural stopping point when walking through downtown.
After the 2010 earthquake, the original facade was carefully restored while the interior was completely rebuilt. This contrast between the preserved exterior and the modern interior makes the building an example of how historical structures survive in earthquake zones.
