Memorial 27F, Concepción, Memorial site in Concepción, Chile
Eight hexagonal towers, each 23 meters tall, stand in the Costanera Park, constructed with reinforced concrete and covered in Cobquecura stone.
The memorial commemorates the 551 victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck southern Chile on February 27, 2010 at magnitude 8.8.
The memorial contains engraved names of victims, survivor testimonies, and a Violeta Parra poem about natural disasters within its tower structures.
Located at Avenida Costanera 8800, the memorial includes five plazas with walking paths and educational spaces about Chile's seismic conditions.
One tower features a suspended wooden base designed to demonstrate structural instability during seismic events, reflecting Chile's geological characteristics.
