The Edificio de los Servicios Públicos de Chillán is an administrative building that houses multiple municipal offices and public utility departments. The structure serves as a central hub where residents access government services and complete administrative procedures.

The current building replaced the Intendencia de Ñuble, planned by architect Víctor Henry de Villeneuve in 1889 and finished in 1910, which the 1939 earthquake reduced to rubble. Construction ran from 1940 to 1942, halted twice, first for lack of funds and then for lack of nails, and the building opened with two floors; a third was added in 1960. After the 1973 coup, intendant Juan de Dios Fuentes was detained and removed from the building by soldiers, and in 1974 it became the seat of the Provincial Government of Ñuble.

The building represents a convergence point for community activities, municipal procedures, and administrative services that shape daily life in Chillán.

The original 1940-1942 project planned a north wing reaching Calle Gamero and an enlarged inner courtyard, the Patio de los Naranjos; construction stopped twice, first for lack of funds and later for lack of nails. The building opened with two floors, and the third was added only in 1960.
