San Agustín de Puñual

The San Agustín de Puñual museum occupies a rectangular structure with a central courtyard, displaying artifacts from the colonial period and naval history.

The hacienda, dating from 1780, belonged to Pedro Chacón and witnessed the birth of Chilean naval officer Arturo Prat Chacón on April 3, 1848.

The museum preserves the architectural elements of 18th-century rural design while showcasing the maritime traditions and heritage of the Chilean Navy.

The museum, managed by the Chilean Armed Forces, opens its doors to visitors interested in exploring the naval history through guided tours and exhibitions.

Following the 2010 earthquake damage, the museum underwent extensive restoration and reopened fully in 2014 with support from private cultural donations.
