Longaví, Agricultural commune in Linares Province, Chile
Longaví is a commune in the Maule Region located in Linares Province, situated between the Achibueno and Longaví rivers. The territory is characterized by flat agricultural land at an elevation of about 153 meters.
The territory originated as a Jesuit estate in 1639 and later developed into a settled village. It received official commune status on January 1, 1937.
The name Longaví comes from the Mapudungun language and means 'snake's head', reflecting the indigenous roots of this region in the Maule area.
The Pan-American Highway connects the area directly to Santiago and neighboring cities. The flat terrain makes it straightforward to navigate and explore the surroundings.
The population is approximately 78 percent rural and focused on rice and cereal cultivation. This concentration on basic crop production shapes the landscape and economy across the territory.
