Piscina Escolar de la Universidad de Chile, Swimming pool and national monument in Independencia, Chile
The Piscina Escolar features a symmetrical design with two main volumes, reaching 17 meters in height and containing an eight-lane training pool.
Built in 1929 during Carlos Ibañez del Campo's presidency, the facility was transferred to the University of Chile in 1932 for educational purposes.
The building represents the architectural trends of late 1920s Chile, incorporating design elements that reflect the period's commitment to physical education.
The swimming pool measures 25 meters by 15 meters, offering eight lanes for training activities within a total building area of 3,040 square meters.
The structure includes two lateral volumes that were initially designed as open gardens but were later transformed into covered gymnasiums.
