Caleta Olivia

Caleta Olivia is a port city on the San Jorge Gulf coast in Patagonia. The waterfront shows signs of industrial activity, and the harbor remains active with fishing boats and cargo vessels.

The city was established in 1901 during telegraph line surveying operations. It later became a major center for petroleum extraction that shaped the local economy for generations.

The San Jorge Gulf region preserves marine life with sea lion colonies located 10 kilometers from the city center within designated nature reserves.

The city has a sports center with recreational facilities for visitors. Several beaches nearby are suitable for relaxing or enjoying water-based activities.

The El Gorosito monument depicts oil workers and serves as a symbol of the region's economic heritage. The sculpture is a local landmark that honors the workforce behind petroleum extraction.
