Nature reserve Punta del Marqués

This protected area encompasses a section of Patagonian steppe alongside rocky cliffs that plunge toward the sea. The shoreline and elevated terrain provide essential habitats for marine wildlife and coastal ecosystems.

The area received protected status to safeguard the natural resources and marine ecosystems of the region. This designation came about through local administrative agreements and formal recognition of its ecological importance.

People gather at observation points throughout the year to watch the behavior and movements of sea lion colonies on the rocky shores.

Reaching the reserve involves driving on a gravel road that passes through Rada Tilly from the direction of Comodoro Rivadavia. Elevated observation platforms positioned along the way allow you to view the landscape and wildlife safely from above.

A permanent colony of sea lions inhabits the rocky shores, with their numbers swelling noticeably during the final months of the year. This seasonal shift makes the end-of-year period particularly rewarding for watching their activity.
