Popular Library On the other side of the tree, Community reading center in Parque Saavedra, La Plata, Argentina.
The Popular Library On the other side of the tree is situated within Parque Saavedra and occupies a green space where books and educational materials are organized for young readers. The collection focuses on materials for children up to around 12 years old, creating a dedicated space for early learning.
Paula Kriscautzky founded this library in April 2011 as a tribute to her late daughter Pilar. This personal initiative became the foundation for an educational resource that has served the community ever since.
The name refers to a large tree that serves as a gathering point where children read and gather. The rooms inside are designed to welcome young readers and foster community activities throughout the year.
The library is located on Calle 14 between streets 66 and 67, making it accessible on foot from several parts of the neighborhood. Annual membership provides access to the book collection and participation in workshops and activities throughout the year.
This library inspired and sparked the creation of similar facilities in other cities such as Olavarría and San Carlos de Bolívar across the province. The ripple effect demonstrates how a single community project became a model that other towns chose to replicate.
