Nueva Córdoba, University district in Córdoba, Argentina.
Nueva Córdoba is a neighborhood in the southern part of central Córdoba, spanning around 97 blocks with steep streets and high-rise buildings next to the university campus. The area contains a network of streets lined with shops, restaurants, and cultural institutions.
The neighborhood began developing in the late 19th century as part of urban expansion plans intended to prevent flooding in the city center. This growth shaped the southern area into a major residential zone.
The Ferreyra Palace houses the Evita Fine Arts Museum, while the Natural Sciences Museum displays regional fauna in its permanent collection. These buildings serve as gathering places where visitors and students encounter art and science together.
The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot since most facilities are within walking distance, although the steep hills can be tiring. Public transportation connects quickly to the city center and other parts of town.
The area was designed through a specific expansion plan intended to ease pressure on flood-prone sections of the city center. This urban planning intention still shapes the regular street grid and block arrangement today.
