Pozo Hondo is a waterfall in Tacuarembo Department that drops around 15 meters into a deep pool fed by natural springs and rainfall. The site sits in a remote natural area positioned between two small communities in this rural region.

The area remained relatively undeveloped throughout Uruguay's growth and kept its natural features intact. Local communities primarily used the location as a water source and refuge.

The name Pozo Hondo refers to the natural pool carved by erosion at the foot of the 15-metre fall, whose depth has never been determined. The cascade lies between Valle Edén and Tambores, in Tacuarembó Department, and is fed by springs and rainfall.

You will need a car to reach this remote location, as public transportation is sparse in this part of Tacuarembo. Bring sturdy hiking shoes and warm layers, especially when paths are wet or slippery.
